Erik N. Martin

Erik N. Martin has experience working across government, industry, and civil society, with a focus on the intersections of emerging technologies and the public interest.

Most recently, he helped stand up the new Office of Technology at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, where he served as Senior Advisor to the CTO and Senior Technology Advisor, and worked with leadership and across the agency on tech-focused consumer protection and competition matters and investigations. Prior to that, he was part of the founding team for the Day One Project and launched the Impact Fellowship program at the Federation of American Scientists. He also managed federal and state policy projects as a consultant for Democracy Fund’s Digital Democracy Initiative.

He previously worked in the tech industry as Senior Program Manager at Unity, the largest games and real-time 3D graphics development platform, where he helped launch new education-focused programs and products. During the Obama Administration, Erik served as a Policy Advisor at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, as well as an innovation and at the U.S. Department of Education.

He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and has a Masters in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford where he studied as a Clarendon Scholar.
