Benjamin Xie

Benjamin Xie, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Denver and Affiliate Faculty with the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy. His research involves collaborations with state and local policymakers, nonprofits, community-based organizations, and educators to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy and shared understandings of AI and its societal impacts. At the University of Denver, Dr. Xie teaches about AI and its impacts to cross-disciplinary graduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Xie was previously an Embedded Ethics Fellow with Stanford University’s Human-Centered AI Institute where he researched AI evaluation techniques, taught about AI ethics, and contributed to a white paper on AI for the Congressional Black Caucus. He received his PhD in Information Science from the University of Washington and MEng and BS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
