Dr. Andrew Omidvar joined Philips as Vice President of Government R&D for Philips Healthcare in 2013. He is responsible for shaping the long-term R&D strategy for Philips Government Enterprise to solve complex problems for major customers. Currently he is account executive for BARDA, BMGF among others. Dr. Omidvar has worked in US Government and as a consultant to major U.S. government agencies such as the HHS, CMS, NIH, DHS, DOD and VA. As a senior principal at the nonprofit organization MITRE, Dr. Omidvar led the incremental technology transformation strategy for CMS which awarded MITRE a $1 billion Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). Prior to that Dr. Omidvar was Senior Director of Corporate Development at Motorola where he worked on a $4B acquisition of Symbol Technologies. Dr. Omidvar last position in the government was senior advisor in the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the White House.
At Philips Dr. Omidvar has led business development and funding for a $1billion business opportunity from R&D all the way to commercialization. Dr. Omidvar is a board member of Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) a nonprofit helping military with medical R&D and innovation. He is a Senior Fellow at Center for Global Health and Innovation at Texas A&M University. Dr. Omidvar has published several volumes of technical books in areas of Neural Networks, Robotics, AI, Imaging and Vision. He published numerous technical papers as a scientist while he was still in research. He has spoken at National Press Club, and he has been featured in Government Computer News and Computer Security News.
