Katurah Topps

Katurah Topps is an activist and civil rights lawyer serving as Policy Counsel for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and member of LDF’s Justice in Public Safety Project. Katurah uses legal and policy-centered approaches at the local, state, and federal level to dismantle racially discriminatory systems that impede the safety or advancement of Black people, including technologies that surveil, track, or make decisions that negatively impact communities of color, such as biometric readers, predictive policing tools, and more. In doing so, she works closely with impacted communities and grassroots organizations across the country to support community-led interventions and demand government transparency and accountability.
