Dr. Elizabeth “Libbie” Prescott is Director of Fellowships and Products at FAS, where she aligns and scales activities that cultivate a more productive science and technology enterprise by deploying expertise into consequential policy moments. In this role, Libbie leads efforts that generate actionable policy ideas – including the flagship Day One Project® – and that place experts in high-impact public service roles such as through the Talent Hub’s Impact Fellowship.
Libbie brings more than two decades of experience building and scaling policy, programs, and talent. She previously served as Senior Board Director of the Fellowships Office at the National Academies where she led a portfolio of multimillion-dollar fellowship programs on behalf of government and philanthropic sponsors. Her career spans the science-and-government divide, having served in three Executive Branch agencies and as a Congressional AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, advising senior leaders to shape impactful science and technology policy and programs.
Libbie has also managed a global philanthropic fund dedicated to reducing catastrophic risks from emerging technology, and taught the next generation of science and technology policy leaders as a Professor of the Practice at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Libbie holds a D.Phil. in molecular biology from the University of Oxford, Balliol College, and a BA in molecular and cell biology and economics with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
