Dana Skelly is Senior Advisor, Wildfire at the Federation of American Scientists, bringing nearly three decades of experience in fire science, operations, land management, and public policy to our Climate and Environment team within the Lands and Waters program. Her prior leadership includes serving as a U.S. Forest Service regional wildfire risk-reduction program manager and chairing the interagency Joint Fire Science Program Governing Board. Her work focuses on advancing progressive, science-based and accountable approaches to wildfire management; identifying effective, replicable policy solutions; and building stronger stewardship organizations to scale. She holds qualifications in wildland fire command and operations and is a Ph.D. candidate at Oregon State University.
