Luis Alvarez, Ph.D. is the CEO and founder of Theradaptive, a pioneering clinical stage biotech company focused on regenerative medicine. A retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel with 20 years of service, including a combat tour in Iraq, Dr. Alvarez was inspired by the severe extremity injuries he witnessed among soldiers to develop innovative solutions for tissue regeneration. He served as Deputy Director of the DoD’s Regenerative Medicine Program and as a DARPA Service Chief Fellow, roles that deepened his expertise in medical innovation. Dr. Alvarez earned his bachelor’s degree from West Point and a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from MIT as a Hertz Fellow, specializing in protein engineering for targeted therapeutics. As CEO of Theradaptive, founded in 2017, he has led the development of groundbreaking precision protein therapeutics, earning multiple FDA Breakthrough Device Designations and advancing the field of regenerative medicine and target therapeutic delivery.
