
Matt Bucchin, AICP is currently the Placemaking Solutions Leader at Halff. He has over 29 years of public and private sector experience at the city, state, and special district levels of government. Matt has worked as a planning consultant and project manager on comprehensive, park, resilience, environmental, corridor, active transportation and downtown master planning processes and zoning and land development code projects. He has also taken leadership roles for several American Planning Association (APA) initiatives including being the Past Chair for the APA’s Sustainable Communities Division, project manager for APA’s Smart Cities and Sustainability Initiative (2014-2018) and Interest Group (2020-present). For the past 15 years, Matt has worked with APA to develop several policy and educational resources to increase resilience for communities across the country. Matt holds three degrees including a Master of Environmental Planning from Arizona State University, a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Pennsylvania State University, and an Associate of Fire Science Technology from Colorado Mountain College.
