Sarah Axe, Senior Agricultural Marketing Specialist Impact Fellow, has been supporting the development of equitable and sustainable food systems for almost ten years. Most recently she worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service, where she provided technical advice and outreach assistance to local and regional food systems, focusing on the Regional Food Business Centers.
Prior to working at the USDA, she co-founded Kitchen Sync Strategies providing procurement support to food service departments at local public schools. She worked for both the Office of Sustainability and Public Health Department at the City of Austin supporting a variety of food policy and healthy food access initiatives. Prior to her career in food systems, she spent nine years as a middle school Algebra teacher.
Sarah has a Master’s in Public Affairs from the University of Texas, LBJ School of Public Policy and actively serves on the Board of Directors for her local food co-op.
