Established in 1945 by scientists in response to the atomic bomb, the Federation of American Scientists continues to work on behalf of a safer, more equitable, and more peaceful world. We want to thank you for joining us at this year's award ceremony – the first in quite a few years.

FAS EMERGING POLICY ENTREPRENEUR
Alexa White
Alexa is an emerging scientist who served as one of FAS’s first policy entrepreneurship fellows, and has since gone on to lead the Aya Research Institute to embed data capacity and community engagement in environmental justice tools.
FAS Public Service Award Honoree
Dr. Alondra Nelson
An academic, policy adviser, and writer, Dr. Alondra Nelson was instrumental in creating the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights, a set of five principles and associated practices to help guide the design, use, and deployment of automated systems and protect the rights of the American public in the age of artificial intelligence.
FAS PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD HONOREE
Christopher Nolan
We present the 2023 Public Service Award for contributions to culture to one of the great storytellers of our time, writer and director Christopher Nolan, for his film Oppenheimer. Mr. Nolan captured the public’s attention through a compelling story, artfully crafted, about a uniquely important American.

Senators Schumer and Young
For their efforts on behalf of U.S. investment in science and technology, culminating with the passage of the CHIPS & Science Act, we are honoring Senate Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer of New York and Senator Todd Young of Indiana.
