Thanks for writing.  I am glad you liked the trailer, and I hope you like the game.  Immune Attack 2.0 is in development now....  many improvements and exciting additions are coming!

I welcome contributions!  But the code for the engine is not ours to open.   Viscious Engine is our engine.  It works great, makes the game fun to play....  so we want to keep it.  We tried open source engines, but we had no success with them.

It is something we discuss.  We encourage students/anyone to submit their game ideas, or even 2D mini-game levels.  We will post them!

Please let us know which error you are receiving when you try to install Immune Atack.

You may need to upload some audio, sound driver files.  You may be having problems that are not specific to Vista.

Hi Mart!

Thanks for writing!   I apologize for not geting back sooner.  Grant deadline!

So, first of all we are working on Immune Attack 2.0.  We are funded for this new version by the National Institites of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, one of the National Institutes of Health.  We will be adding a save game function.  We are also adding a lot of new fun stuff, like points.

In the meantime, you can use the Instructor's Menu (Password = abc) to start the game any any point you want.  So, if students want to skip ahead after they get tired of finding those pesky Pseudomonas, they can skip to the next level.

Immune Attack is highly experimental!  Immune Attack will be building on the terrific base the Immune Attack 1 provided.  Thank you for your interest...  and I hope you watch out for Immune Attack 2.0 and try that version.  Maybe then you can evaluate IA2.0 in your classroom this spring!

Have you considered open sourcing the code of the game? Personally I think it would make a lot of sense, and enable talented outsiders to contribute to the game.

Anyway, thanks for making this, I'm still downloading, but it looks very interesting, similar to what I've had in mind about how those games should look like.

OK, everyone, bottom line is if your anti virus software tries to tell you that the file game-r.exe is bad, you should tell it, "No, game-r.exe is good!"  So 

Immune Attack will not work with out that file. 

About anti virus programs: 

As Wolach wrote below, antivirus programs look at certain characteristics of software programs.  Many software programs share characteristics with viruses, but that is just a coincident.

Given that description from AntiVir i'm confident that game-r.exe is just trying to do something that falls within the defined characteristics, but I'll trust that FAS doesn't have nefarious intent, so this is simply a false positive.  Thanks for your time.

I apologize in advance if this comes of as course, but your assessment of DMC's issue is just plain incorrect.

I just experienced the exact same issue as DMC just now after attempting to install immune attack.  To address your point, the archive I used was the complete 519 MB (544,374,784 bytes to be exact).

As a matter of accuracy, virusese cannot simply piggyback on a file I've downloaded. I downloaded only "ImmuneAttackSetup.exe" from your server, nothing else.  The virus in question was located within game-r.exe, the very executable that DMC could not find previously, since anti-vir never allowed it to be copied.

Game-r.exe is the executable that is run when you double-click 'Run Immune Attack' on the desktop, therefore virus is most certainly contained within your installer.

My installation was completely successfull except for game-r.exe not being present as my antiviru software prohibited copying.  I'm still very interested in testing this game; if you could forward this issue on to someone invovled with the game's distribution I would greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure DMC would as well.

Finally got Immune Attack installed on my laptop.  My laptop has Vista on it.

After I download Immune Attack from the web I try to intall and get error message about setup initialization.  I downloaded it a couple times just to make sure I got the whole thing and still get the error message.

Any suggestions?

If Immune Attack installed properly, you should see an icon on your desktop that says “Run Immune Attack.”  If you do not see it then the program did not install.  

You should check the downloaded file.  If the downloaded file is less than 519 MB, then the download was not complete and you need to repeat the download.

I denied the file access to my system.  Installation proceeded and ended with

report that intallation was successfull.  But in the games file folder there was no

.exe file to boot the game.

I believe your processor could be the problem, we recommend a 2 GhZ processor.
