Mel Johnson is a PhD student at the University of California, Davis studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. Mel received his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Economics and Management at Michigan State university where he also incorporated his first business, MJ Investment Services LLC which is designed as a family business and focuses on portfolio management, arbitrage, education investment, and business development. Mel’s long-term goal is to increase the world’s access to potable water; to do so, he plans to develop an international startup company that focuses on implementing clean water resources in the developing world as well as consulting and testing services. Mel has a strong business background and is currently working on developing the technical expertise as well as understanding the larger political and economic factors involved in his large-scale goals.
