Amanda Girard is a design strategist and researcher focused on applying human-centered design and behavioral insights to public sector challenges. She specializes in communications interventions in policy-driven environments and brings nearly two decades of experience working at the intersection of design, public health, and economics. Her work centers on designing interventions, translating research into actionable insights, and supporting evidence-informed decision-making in collaboration with researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. As an Impact Fellow at the Federation of American Scientists, she explores how feedback loops function in federal programs and how evidence and performance systems connect in practice. She has worked across federal government and applied research settings, including roles at the Office of Evaluation Sciences within the U.S. General Services Administration and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a B.F.A. in Design from SUNY New Paltz.
