Senior Talent Acquisition Associate for Policy Fellowship Programs
The Opportunity
The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) is seeking a full-time Senior Talent Acquisition Associate to lead the talent sourcing and recruitment process for the Policy Fellowship Programs. This role plays a crucial part in strengthening FAS’s policy fellowships by identifying, attracting, and hiring top talent in the related field. The ideal candidate must be proactive, highly organized, and adept at working in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills are essential for this role as they will serve as a liaison to the People & Culture department; the candidate must be committed to upholding FAS’s values in diverse hiring practices.
What you’ll do (Core Responsibilities)
The Senior Talent Acquisition Associate will oversee three main areas within the Talent Hub team:
Recruitment and Talent Sourcing (60%)
- Research, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies to attract diverse candidates, while utilizing a variety of various platforms and networks based on the needs of the organization/agency.
- Consult with hiring manager(s) and/or selection panels on job requirements and objectives.
- Compose job descriptions and post on applicable websites, job boards, and social media sites.
- Manage the review process of potential applicants, sometimes collaborating with other FAS members to construct and refer final applicants.
- Identify key recruiting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Assess resumes and recommend candidates to selecting panels.
- Provide weekly reports on recruiting progress.
- Oversee the full recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding lifecycle.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best recruiting practices.
- Lead new hire orientation for all new/rehires.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the organization.
Policy Fellowships Human Resources Liaison (20%)
- Serve as the liaison for the People and Culture (P&C) department for the Policy Fellowships Team, to handle and resolve general P&C inquiries.
- Coordinate and oversee the onboarding process for new hires, to ensure a seamless integration into FAS.
- Additional P&C-related tasks as required to support the team and organization.
Administrative and Support Duties (20%)
- Provide administrative support for recruitment process, to include but not limited to scheduling interviews and coordinating with candidates.
- Undertake other related tasks as needed to support the Talent Hub team.
Skills and Experience (Requirements)
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in recruitment and talent sourcing, particularly for STEM fields and federal government recruitment.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Capable of scanning large volumes of resumes.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt the organization’s brand and values into their communication style.
- Prior experience in administrative roles or recruitment is desirable but not essential.
- Proficient with HR tools such as Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
Work Environment
This position will be a hybrid role. Meaning that both remote and in-person work can be accommodated, generally two to three days per week on-site, and two to three days per week remote depending on the needs of the organization.
Salary Range
$68,000 – $72,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. FAS is eager to fill this position promptly. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submission is advised for full consideration.
