• Iraqis Fire at ONW Aircraft US EUROPEAN COMMAND January 31, 2000 -- Iraqi forces fired anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) at coalition aircraft from sites near Bashiqah. Coalition aircraft responded to the Iraqi attack by dropping ordnance on elements of the Iraqi integrated air defense system.

Hans Blix is a Swedish disarmament expert who served as Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency for 16 years.
• ATOMIC ENERGY INSPECTORS CONCLUDE NUCLEAR MATERIALS INSPECTION IN IRAQ Press Release IAEA/1341 - 26 January 2000 -- A physical inventory verification of nuclear material remaining at the Tuwaitha site in Iraq was carried out by a five-person International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team between 22 and 25 January.

• DOD FINAL REPORT FINDS CHEMICAL EXPOSURE AT AN NASIRIYAH UNLIKELY January 13, 2000 - The Department of Defense today released its final report of events at the An Nasiriyah Southwest Ammunition Storage Point. It is likely that chemical warfare agents were present in this ammunition storage point prior to U.S. occupation, but unlikely that chemical warfare agents were present in the complex while it was occupied by U.S. forces.

• Iraqis fire at ONW aircraft UNITED STATES EUROPEAN COMMAND (11 Jan 00) The Iraqi forces fired anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) at coalition aircraft from an area southwest of Mosul and an area near Bashiqah. Coalition aircraft responded by dropping ordnance on the integrated air defense system.
• Secretary-General meets with Security Council members on candidates for head of UN commission on Iraq January 11, 2000 -- Secretary-General Kofi Annan today met with members of the Security Council to discuss who would head the newly created United Nations commission on Iraq.
• COALITION AIRCRAFT STRIKE IRAQI MILITARY TARGETS IN THE SOUTH UNITED STATES CENTRAL COMMAND January 9, 2000 -- U.S. Navy F/A-18 "Hornet" and U.S. Air Force F-16 "Fighting Falcon" aircraft used precision guided munitions to strike three Iraqi military radar sites and two anti-aircraft artillery sites in southern Iraq. Coalition aircraft struck Iraqi military radar sites near As Samawah, Al Kut, and Al Amarah. The anti-aircraft artillery sites struck were located at As Samawah and Al Basrah.
• IRAQ/KUWAIT/SAUDI Voice of America 09 January 2000 -- Iraq's Foreign Minister has said that his government may soon begin to cooperate with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to resolve long-standing disputes over people still missing since the Gulf War.
• CHINA-IRAQ Voice of America 06 January 2000 -- The deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Tariq Aziz, is in China to discuss last month's United Nations resolution on sanctions against his country.
