- 1 February 2002: CIA reports to congress on the acquisition of Weapons of Mass Destruction around the world.
- 10 January 2002 National Intelligence Estimate - A new NIE from The National Intelligence Council released an unclassified version o the Foreign Missile Devleopements and the Ballistic Missile Threat Through 2015. The NIE describes new missile developments and projectsion of possible and likely ballistic missile threats to the U.S. and U.S. interests abroas.
- 7 January 2002: IAEA to Inspect North Korean Nuclear Facility - An International Atomic Engery Agency Team intends to visit a North Korean nuclear site near Yongbyon. Though this is not a full scale inspection, the IAEA says that is it is an opportunity to visit a facility to which they have not been given access to in the past. The inspections will likely focus on spent fuel rods from a five-megawatt reactor and reprocessiong facilities that could help determin if North Korea has developed a nuclear device. The IAEA downplayed the importance of this because because it is "not one of the frozen facilities" that the agency wants to inspect. (7 January 2002 Agence France Presse)
