Rose Mische Commins is a Senior Manager supporting FAS’s State and Local Innovation portfolio. Prior to joining FAS, she served as Senior Associate for Civic Innovation at MetroLab Network, where she worked to ensure that community perspectives and needs were centered in federally funded local-level initiatives. At FAS, Rose’s work centers on aligning research priorities with community needs, and aims to to address community-identified challenges by bringing together local government, community partners, and university researchers. Rose supports several State and Local Innovation programs, including the NSF-funded Civic Innovation Challenge and the R&D National Agenda Initiative. Rose brings a local government lens to her work, having held roles with the City of Bloomington, Town of Normal, and City of Greenbelt. She holds an M.S. in Recreation Administration from Illinois State University, where she was a fellow at the Stevenson Center for Applied Community and Economic Development, and a B.A. in English from Earlham College.
