
Katie Hoeberling (she/they) is the Director of Policy Initiatives at Open Environmental Data Project. Dedicated to open and cooperative approaches to science and environmental governance, she creates spaces for researchers, communities, government, and tech to share knowledge, build trust, and work collectively toward environmental justice and equitable climate action. Katie has worked in open science spaces, cooperative farm innovation, food labor organizing and policy, and carbon accounting.
The federal government can support more proactive, efficient, and cost-effective resiliency planning by certifying predictive models to validate and publicly indicate their quality.
The EPA should better integrate community data into environmental research and governance by building internal capacity for recognizing and applying such data, facilitating connections between data communities, and addressing misalignments with data standards.
