Actor, Director, UN Global Advocate for "Human-Centric Digital Governance"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
AI Impact Awardee for Advocacy

Actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the UN’s first global advocate for “human-centric digital governance”.

“I truly believe this tech can do so much good for the world, but we need to complement profit incentives with human-centric incentives, and that’s what the UN’s global goals are all about.”

Recent advocacy includes: speaking out about Meta’s AI chatbots endangering children (September, 2025), supporting an AI and child safety bill in Utah (January 2026), and calling to repeal Section 230 (February 2026), among other efforts.
The actor often explores the intersection of technology and society through his acting work. For example, he starred as the former Uber chief executive Travis Kalanick in the mini-series Super Pumped, which chronicled the ride-sharing company’s controversial ascent.
