David Lang

David Lang is the Senior Director of Global Policy & Affairs at Optica (formerly OSA), the society advancing optics and photonics worldwide, in Washington, DC, where since 2018 he has directed the organization’s advocacy and public policy programs. Prior to joining Optica, David worked at the National Academies of Sciences for 14 years, where he contributed to more than 20 projects spanning space and Earth sciences, physics, and telecommunications. David received his Master of Engineering and Public Policy in energy policy and technology from the University of Maryland, College Park and his Bachelor of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
