Test Area E

The reported Shakti-1 test area depicted a remarkably jumbled appearance, with a considerable amount of debris strewn about a highly assymetric subsidence crater. One additional photograph released by the Government of India depict additional debris fields, although it is not possible to associate the images with the Shakti-1 test area or the other test areas, and this may represent the site of the third low-yield test.

An additional images of this test area is available from Cable News Network coverage. This image suggests that the Government of India photograph may have been reversed in the reproduction process, since these two scenes are mirror images of the same site.
