In May 1995 China purchased a second batch of 22 J11 [Su-27] aircraft which were delivered in April 1996 and based at Guangdong Military District's Suixi Air Base at Maoming in Southern China. President Jiang Zemin inspected this facility during his trip around the province in February 2000.

Photographic Evaluation Report

High resolution imagery is available from two sources, including declassified CORONA imagery which was acquired on 18 October, 1971. As of 08 April 2000 Russian 2-meter resolution KVR-1000 imagery coverage was not available via the SPIN-2 service on TerraServer. As of 08 April 2000 archival Space Imaging IKONOS 1-meter imagery available on the CARTERRA™ Archive includes 4 scenes of this area, acquired on 18 January 2000 and 21 January 2000. The first pair of scenes is completely cloud covered. The second pair of scenes is cloud free, and is directly centered on Suixi Airbase. In addition, the IKONOS archive includes nearly two dozen other scenes, of varrying cloud cover, of this general area.
