Al Fahd AF-40-8

The Saudi Arabian Al Fahd AF-40-8, developed by Abdallah Al Faris, was shown for the first time in Europe in mid-1998. Saudi development and production efforts focused on this new 8 x 8 vehicle following a decision in 1997 to not proceed with production of the Al-Faris 8-400 family of 6 x 6 armoured vehicles. The Al Fahd is being marketed in two hull versionsthe AF-40-8-1 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and the AF-40-8-2 Armoured Fighting and Reconnaissance Vehicle (AFRV). The troop carrier model has the power pack in the center, while the fighting and reconnaissance version, which can be fitted with a variety of weapon stations up to a turret-mounted 105 mm gun, has the power pack at the rear.
