LAV C2 Fire Direction Center (FDC)

The primary mission of the Foreign Military Sales LAV C2 Fire Direction Center (FDC) is to control and assign fire missions, choose the number and the type of rounds to fire, and provide firing data to eight mortars under platoon operations or four under split section operations. Maintains continuous communications via digital or voice with all platoon elements within its area of responsibility, forward observers, Fire Support Elements, and higher headquarters. The FDC performs fire planning and target prioritizing as delegated by the unit commander or his designated representative, and coordinates with other fire support assets, combat support and combat service support, as needed.
