AN/ALR-73 Passive Detection System (PDS)
The AN/ALR-73 Passive Detection System (PDS) provides precision direction finding, passive ranging, and emitter threat identification on the Navy E-2C aircraft. The PDS provides the Central Mission Computer with track data for correlation with the E-2C early warning radar tracks. The system uses four sectors of interferometer arrays for real time coverage over 360o of azimuth with a narrowband superhet receiver architecture. One hundred seventy-seven systems have been produced since 1974.
