   1.  MISSION.  THE HEADQUARTERS PROVIDES COMMAND, CONTROL,

   PROVIDES UNIT ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR THE

   2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO AN AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE
   57000L.

   3.  CAPABILITIES.

       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

           (1)  COMMANDS ASSIGNED AND ATTACHED ELEMENTS OF THE
   AIRBORNE DIVISION'S COMBAT AND COMBAT SUPPORT ELEMENTS IN
   OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE COMBAT OPERATIONS.

           (2)  WHEN DESIGNATED, ACTS AS EMERGENCY SUCCESSOR
   OPERATIONAL HEADQUARTERS FOR THE DIVISION IN EVENT OF THE
   DESTRUCTION OR NEUTRALIZATION OF DIVISION COMMAND AND
   CONTROL CAPABILITIES.

           (3)  PROVIDES OPERATIONAL CONTROL OF UP TO FIVE
   MANEUVER BATTALIONS ON A SUSTAINED BASIS.  CAN CONTROL UP T
   SEVEN MANEUVER BATTALIONS FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED 24
   HOURS.

           (4)  SUPERVISES THE MOVEMENT AND SECURITY OF
   ATTACHED OR SUPPORTING ADMINISTRATIVE ELEMENTS.

           (5)  THIS UNIT IS A FEEDER UNIT RESPONSIBLE FOR

1. GENERAL.

   a. References.

   b. Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions of
Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

      (1) Purpose. The attached represents a cyclic review of TOE
57042L000 and reflects the latest OPFAC rules.

      (2) Authority.  Cyclic review.  AR 71-32.

      (3) This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
with the provisions of current TOE development regulations and
guidance.

      (4) The unit MARC Code is 21A . This is a combat support
unit that operates in the  division  area. It is considered an
operational unit and moves frequently .

2. EMPLOYMENT.

   a. The brigade headquarters is organized with a tactical (TAC)
command post (CP); a main CP, which consists of the tactical
operations center (TOC) and the life support area (LSA); and a
brigade support area (BSA).

      (1) The TAC CP, located in the vicinity of the maneuver
battalions, consists of representatives of the S2, the S3, and the
command section (when necessary) in one or more wheeled vehicles.
It plans and advises on mission strategies and moves as the
tactical situation dictates.

      (2) The main CP(TOC) is divided into five independent cells.
It includes representatives from other units needed to sustain
combat operations and plan for the future operations.

      (3) The LSA is within or adjacent to the brigade main CP;
it consists of three elements responsible for the continued support
of brigade personnel: company headquarters, maintenance section,
and food service section.

      (4) The BSA provides combat service support functions to the
brigade. A  brigade rear CP is collocated with the supporting
Forward Support Battalion (FSB)CP. The brigade rear CP consists
of elements of the S1 and S4 sections, the ministry team, and others
(e.g. communications) when required.  The rear CP is under the
operational control of the FSB commander for defense of the BSA.
The Field Surgeon which supports the Brigade is in the medical
company of the FSB.


   b. The tactical disposition diagram identifies the battlefield
disposition and interrelationships of tactical or administrative
groupings and operational cells within the unit. It is also used to
analyze power requirements of collocated installations and groupings.
It graphically depicts the doctrinal distances of theunit and
tactical groupings in meters. The diagram represents worse case
dispersion during a normal defense scenario. It is not intended
to be used as doctrine, nor is it to replace or supplement tactical
dispositions discussed in field manuals or other approved doctrinal
publications.

3. METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

   a. PARAGRAPH 01,  TACTICAL CP .

    (1) Functions. The TAC CP conducts ongoing close operations.
Only a few key representatives of the S2 and S3 are dedicated here
to provide the commander with combat critical information and to
disseminate his decisions concerning CS and CSS to the main CP for
implementation.
