1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE AIR DEFENSE FOR FORWARD COMBAT

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:

        (1)  AIR DEFENSE AGAINST LOW ALTITUDE HOSTILE
AIRCRAFT.

        (2)  EARLY WARNING INFORMATION VIA THE LIGHT &
SPECIAL DIVISION INTERIM SENSOR (LSDIS) OR THE GROUND BASED
SENSOR (GBS).

        (3)  FOUR AVENGER/MPADS BATTERIES WITH A PRIMARY
MISSION OF DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE DIVISIONAL BRIGADES OR
GENERAL SUPPORT FOR THE DIVISION AS A WHOLE.

        (4)  AIR DEFENSE COORDINATION SECTION ELEMENTS TO THE
DIVISIONAL BRIGADES.

        (5)  AIR DEFENSE ARTILLERY PERSONNEL AND RADIO
EQUIPMENT TO AUGMENT THE DIVISION ARMY AIRSPACE COMMAND AND
CONTROL (A2C2) ELEMENT.

        (6)  AN AIR DEFENSE ARTILLERY TACTICAL OPERATIONS
SECTION TO PROVIDE AIR DEFENSE COMMAND AND CONTROL
