    e.  Major Changes.

        AS PART OF THE REVIEW PROCESS TOWARD ARMY XXI, THIS
TOE HAVE BEEN BUILT TO REFLECT CURRENT STANDARDS OF
GRADE (SG), MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS CRITERIA (MARC), BASIC
OF ISSUE PLANS (BOIP), AND DOCTRINE

2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  Perform reconnaissance and security missions in
    support of division operations.

    b.  Perform rear area operations, facilitate division
    command and control, and conduct other operations as
    designated by the division.

    c.  See TOE Section I for a complete list of capabilities
    and limitations of this organization and its subordinate
    units.

3.  ASSIGNMENT.  Organic to a Division Aviation Brigade, Heavy
    Division, TOE 87000F.

1.  MISSION.  TO PERFORM RECONNAISSANCE AND SECURITY MISSIONS

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:

        (1) GROUND AND AIR RECONNAISSANCE, SURVEILLANCE WITHIN
TO THE FRONT, FLANKS, AND REAR OF THE DIVISION.

        (2) A COMMAND LINK BETWEEN THE DIVISION AND
SUBORDINATE ELEMENTS.

        (3) LINES OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ASSISTANCE IN TROOP
MOVEMENT WITHIN AND THROUGH THE DIVISION'S AREA OF OPERATIONS.

        (4) SURVEILLANCE AND RECONNAISSANCE, TO INCLUDE NBC,
TO FACILITATE DIVISION OPERATIONS.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2, TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION

AVIATION UNIT MAINTENANCE (AVUM) SUPPORT AND 100% OF THE
AVIATION INTERMEDIATE MAINTENANCE (AVIM) SUPPORT FOR ASSIGNED
AIRCRAFT.
