    Родился 2 февраля 1947 года в деревне Вава Ельнинского района Смоленской области. 

    Образование:

    • Окончил Оренбургское высшее военное авиационное училище летчиков
    • Военно-морскую академию
    • Военную академию Генерального штаба ВС РФ. 

    Служба:

    • В Вооруженных Силах с 1964 года. 
    • Командовал частями и соединениями морской ракетоносной и штурмовой авиации.
    • Возглавлял ВВС Черноморского флота. 
    • В 1995 г. назначен начальником штаба авиации ВМФ РФ.
    • С 2000 г. - командующий морской авиацией Военно-Морского Флота РФ. 
    • Военный летчик-снайпер.

    Education:

    • Orenburg Higher Aviation School (1968).
    • Naval Academy (1983).
    • General Staff Academy (1990)

    Career:

    • Chief of Staff of Baltic Fleet Aviation.  Commander of a Tu- 22 squadron for 2 years, was Deputy Regimental Commander for 2 years. commanded a naval missile air regiment for three years. The regiment was acknowledged as the best in naval aviation. Deputy Commander of an aviation division.
    • 1990, Named a division commander.  Mastered the Su-24 aircraft in Lipetsk. After conversion training commanded a naval air assault unit of the Black Sea Fleet.
    • January 1992 Chief of staff of the Black Sea Fleet Air Forces.
    • 4 November 1994, Commander of Black Sea Fleet Aviation.
    • 1994, Noted as Maj-Gen Avn, (Moscow ITAR- TASS World Service in Russian 1541 GMT 29 Nov 94).
    • Noted as 1995, noted as a Lt-Gen Avn, (Sevastopol FLAG RODINY in Russian, 29 Jun 95 pp 1-2).
    • Experienced with L-29, Il-28, Tu-16, Tu-22M2 an Su-24MR, Tu-22M3. (Moscow MORSKOY SBORNIK in Russian, Aug 19 No 8, 95 pp 8-11).
    Military pilot/expert Marksman. Among the first of those named an Honored Military Pilot of Russia. Wife has completed a pedagogical institute, and has mastered French and German. His daughter has completed a medical institute, and is married and working in Kaliningrad. (ITAR-TASS 29 Jun 95).
