CONGRESSIONAL REPORT, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8

HOUSE REPUBLICANS SELECT COMMITTEE CHAIRS

The House Republican Conference December 7 selected chairs for all 20 House

standing committees in the 104th Congress, with the exception of the Ethics

Committee. The appointment of that chair, which is made by the speaker of

the House, has been delayed due to an ethics-related complaint concerning a

college course taught by incoming speaker Newt Gingrich. The conference

also selected chairs for the 13 appropriations subcommittees, who will hold
