The Administrative Department supports the command in the following job areas: Admin Department Head, Admin LPO, Assistant SSO, CO's Writer, Mailroom Clerk, and Admin Assistant.
The Administrative Department provides such diverse functions as mail distribution and control, Special Security Office (SSO), centralized directives and correspondence management, and billet program management. The Administrative Department also provides superb administrative support to Cryptologic Technicians assigned to NSA/CSS Pacific. Typical daily activities in N1 Department include: Admin Department Head manages the functions of the Administrative Department to ensure proper administrative support is provided to the command to accomplish its mission; Admin LPO supervises the activities of subordinates and monitors day-to-day operations of the Admin Office; Assistant SSO acts as the assistant to the Commanding Officer on issues relating to personnel security; conducts SI indocs, debriefs and security interviews, maintains SSO files, maintains the command badge control system, and prepares routine clearance correspondence. The CO's Writer serves as the Admin Assistant to the Executive offices, prepares department and command muster reports, maintains command alpha roster, command calendar, schedules appointments for CO and XO, and types correspondence for CO, XO, and CMC. The command's Mailroom Clerk processes all official correspondence including registered mail and DEFCOS, serializes, dates, and wraps packages, files outgoing letters in SSIC files, and conducts daily Guard mail runs; Admin Assistant types the Plan of the Week and command and department correspondence as needed, files incoming correspondence, files and makes changes to instructions.
