The MILSTAR ground command post (GNDCP) terminals are designed for high capacity CP operations. This includes a mission control segment interface, force direction, CINCNET operation, and full-beam management capability. Depending on the configuration (and branch of service) the terminal can be fixed or transportable by aircraft, ship, or truck. The terminals use an extremely high frequency (EHF) uplink and a SHF downlink. Fielded terminals used the Fleet Satellite (FLTSAT) EHF packages on FLTSAT 7 and 8 until the MILSTAR satellites were launched and operational.
