Desert Fox – the mission to again force Iraqi compliance of U.N. resolutions – is typical: Reconnaissance satellites helped identify targets before and gauge our effectiveness after the strike; Navigation satellites led our ships to their deployment area and helped guide the Tomahawks to their targets; Communication satellites passed command and control information between our leaders and the strike force, as well as news to a world-wide audience.
Space Support Teams aid Desert Fox B-1B missions Air Force Space Command News Service January 05, 1999 -- Space support for Air Force bombing missions entered a new era during Operation Desert Fox recently. While B-1 Bombers were first introduced in the effort to neutralize Iraqi military power, Air Force Space Support Teams provided direct support to combat operations.
