Abstract: Neutral particle beams (NPBs) popped up before missile launch could irradiate space based interceptors (SBIs), suppressing those that could effectively attack the missiles. NPB effectiveness could be quite high against unshielded, undecoyed SBIs. The results are sensitive to launch radius, beam brightness, and SBI hardness. Even low brightness NPBs would be effective in suppressing the threats over compact launch areas.
