Sonmiani

The Space and Upper Atmospheric Research Commission (SUPARCO) operates a Flight Test Range at Sonmiani Beach, some 40 km northwest of Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi.

The Indian test of the Agni II IRBM was conducted 11 April 1999. Pakistan responded on 15 April 1999, with a successful test of the Shaheen [M-11] missile. This first flight of the Shaheen was fired from the Sonmiani Naval Base in the Sonmiani Bay area.
