The team, led by Patrice Palanque of France and comprised of some 14 experts from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia and Ukraine, conducted its activities in Iraq from 17 to 25 February. The sites and facilities inspected were identified by the Special Commission as possible and potential support facilities in their current missile production activities. The inspection focused on identifying effective monitoring procedures for those sites. The data assembled during the inspection will also assist the Commission in its operational planning for the ongoing monitoring and verification phase of its work. In line with the joint statement issued after the latest round of high-level talks in Baghdad, further such missions are planned, both in the ballistic missiles area and in the other areas of weapons capability covered by the Commission's mandate. .
