NEWS BRIEFING -- Deputy spokesman Richard Boucher discussed the following
topics:

NO COMMENT ON REPORTED ISRAELI MISSILE SALE TO CHINA
Boucher had no comment on press reports that Israel has sold American
Patriot missiles or their technology to China.

Without reference to any particular news report, Boucher noted that the U.S.
arms control act says the president may sell defense articles and services
to countries only if certain conditions are met.  One of these conditions
is that the foreign government concerned must agree that any articles and
services furnished will not be transferred without the consent of the
United States.
