Following is the text of a September 6 press release received from Allied Command, Atlantic (ACLANT), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Public Information Office in Norfolk, Virginia: (Begin text) NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic (SACLANT) announced today that the NATO/Partnership for Peace (PFP) exercise Cooperative Support 95 (COSUP 95) will be conducted from 25-29 September 1995 at the U.S. Navy's Fleet Combat Training Center (Atlantic), Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, Virginia. COSUP 95 is a logistics exercise involving 36 senior officers from 14 PFP nations -- Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine -- and 21 senior officers from 10 NATO nations -- Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. France, although not part of NATO military structure, will join in the exercise, as part of the normal training relations which it has established with its allies. The aim of the exercise is to introduce PFP nations to NATO multinational, shore-based and afloat logistics operations. COSUP 95 will promote closer military cooperation and interoperability between NATO and PFP nations and focuses on logistical aspects of peacekeeping, search and rescue, and humanitarian operations. Planning and execution of COSUP 95 is overseen by General John J. Sheehan, U.S. Marine Corps, SACLANT. The exercise will be conducted by ACLANT Assistant Chief of Staff, Resources, Rear Admiral Einar Inge Skorgen, Norwegian Navy.
