A. DESCRIPTION: THE MK19, MOD 3 IS A SELF-POWERED, AIR-COOLED, FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPON. IT USES LINKED AMMUNITION AND FIRES FROM THE OPEN BOLT MODE USING A MODIFIED BLOW-BACK TYPE MECHANISM. THE WEAPON IS DESIGNED TO FIRE 40MM HIGH VELOCITY SERIES GRENADE ROUNDS AND CAN BE EITHER GROUND OF VEHICLE MOUNTED. B. CAPABILITIES: IT IS CAPABLE OF A CYCLIC RATE-OF-FIRE OF 325-375 ROUNDS PER MINUTE. IT WILL ENGAGE POINT TARGETS UP TO 1500 METERS AND PROVIDE SUPPRESSIVE FIRE UP TO A RANGE OF 2,200 METERS. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE MK19 MOD 3 WILL BE EMPLOYED AGAINST PERSONNEL AND VEHICULAR TARGETS OUT TO THE MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE. THE WEAPON WILL BE USED EXTENSIVELY TO STRIP INFANTRY FROM ARMORED VEHICLE FORMATIONS, THEREBY MAKING THESE VEHICLES MUCH MORE VULNERABLE TO ANTI-TANK FIRE. IN ADDITION THE WEAPON WILL BE EMPLOYED AGAINST PREPARED DEFENSIVE POSITIONS AND A VARIETY OF OTHER TARGETS. ITS PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT INCLUDES DEFENSE RETROGRADE, PATROLLING, REAR AREA SECURITY, AND SPECIAL OPERATIONS IN ALL CLIMATIC AND GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS OF THE WORLD. D.
