Medical Evacuation Vehicle
This Appendix describes only the P3I requirements for the Medical Evacuation Vehicle. The following paragraph numbering corresponds to the Medical Evacuation Vehicle configuration Appendix.
4. Capabilities Required.
a. System Performance.
(12) Must provide a climate control unit (heating/ cooling) in patient transport/care area that provides a stable patient environment temperature (50-90 degrees F) in all climate conditions.
Rationale: Patients must be transported in a temperature-controlled environment to prevent degradation of their condition from either hypo or hyperthermia. Because the vehicle will operate in climatic extremes as specified in the base ORD it is important the wounded soldier be transported in a clinically acceptable temperature range.
