1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE HIGH-TO-MEDIUM ALTITUDE AIR DEFENSE
OF GROUND COMBAT FORCES AND HIGH VALUE ASSETS.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO AN AIR DEFENSE ARTILLERY BRIGADE,
TOE 44602L/44412L AND A CORPS BRIGADE, TOE 44412L.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  THIS UNIT PROVIDES SUSTAINED AIR DEFENSE FOR GROUND
COMBAT FORCES AND HIGH VALUE ASSETS AGAINST MEDIUM AND HIGH
ALTITUDE HOSTILE AERIAL TARGETS IN THEATER ARMY/CORPS AREAS AT
A REDUCED CAPABILITY COMMENSURATE WITH ASSIGNED ASSET
STRENGTH.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10 PERCENT
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90 PERCENT FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80
PERCENT FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT THE MEDICAL
PERSONNEL AND THE CHAPLAIN, CAN ASSIST IN COORDINATED DEFENSE
OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT EXCEPT TELETYPEWRITER COMPONENTS OF RADIO
TELETYPEWRITER EQUIPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC)
EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF
THEATER ARMY FOR:

        (1)  LEGAL, FINANCE, AND PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
SERVICES.

        (2)  ENGINEER SUPPORT IN THE PREPARATION OF LAUNCH
POSITIONS TO INCLUDE SURVEY DATA AND SITE PREPARATION.

        (3)  HEAVY CRANE SUPPORT (30 TON) FOR
ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY OF PATRIOT SYSTEM END ITEMS AT OFF
LOAD/LOADING SITES.

        (4)  MULTICHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS AND EQUIPMENT FOR
VOICE AND DATA LINKS WITH ADJACENT PATRIOT BATTALIONS AND WITH
ADA BRIGADE.

4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  AS REQUIRED TO DEFEND CRITICAL
THEATER AREA ASSETS.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT.
