1.  MISSION.  TO CLOSE WITH THE ENEMY BY MEANS OF FIRE AND
MANEUVER IN ORDER TO DESTROY OR CAPTURE HIM, OR REPEL
HIS ASSAULTS BY FIRE, CLOSE COMBAT AND COUNTERATTACK.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO INFANTRY BATTALION (LIGHT), TOE
07015C000.

3.  CAPABILITIES:

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

        (1) PROVIDES A BASE OF FIRE AND MANEUVER.

        (2) CLOSES WITH THE ENEMY TO DESTROY OR CAPTURE HIM.

        (3) REPELS ENEMY ASSAULT BY FIRE, CLOSE COMBAT AND
COUNTERATTACK.

        (4) SEIZES AND HOLDS TERRAIN.

        (5) MANEUVERS IN ALL TYPES OF TERRAIN UNDER ALL
CLIMATE CONDITIONS.

        (6) CAPITALIZES ON ALL FORMS OF MOBILITY.

        (7) CONDUCTS COMBAT OPERATIONS UNDER LIMITED
VISIBILITY EMPLOYING NIGHT VISION DEVICES AND SURVEILLANCE
EQUIPMENT WHEN PROVIDED.

        (8) CONDUCTS OPERATIONS OTHER THAN WAR AND MAY
REQUIRE AUGMENTATION FOR THAT MISSION.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT MEDICAL
PERSONNEL AND THE CHAPLAIN, CAN ENGAGE IN COORDINATED
DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON:

       (1) THE HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, TOE
07016L000, FOR RELIGIOUS, LEGAL, COMBAT HEALTH
SUPPORT, HEAVY ANTIARMOR SUPPORT, LOGISTICS, UNIT-LEVEL
MAINTENANCE, UNIT LEVEL PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE;
INDIRECT FIRE SUPPORT AND TRANSPOTATION OF ORGANIC EQUIPMENT
OTHER THAN INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT.

       (2) THE BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY,
TOE 77042L000, FOR WATER SUPPORT.

       (3) SUPPORTING FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION FOR A FIRE
SUPPORT TEAM (FIST) FOR OBSERVATION AND COORDINATION OF FIRE
SUPPORT.

       (4) APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS FOR
FINANCE AND PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  THREE PER INFANTRY BATTALION

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT.

6.  MOBILITY:

    A.  THIS UNIT HAS NO ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 29,719 POUNDS (1,935 CUBIC FEET) OF
EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

        (1)  Cycle review

        (2)  This TOE revise current L-edition of the Rifle Company,
             Infantry Battalion (Light).

        (3)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
             with the provision of current TOE development
             regulations and guidance.

        (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE
             have been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with
             criteria in AR 220-1, Unit Statuss Reporting.  They
             also have been reviewed to ensure they are aligned at
             the paragraph level of detail.

        (5)  This unit MARC code is 21A.  This is a combat unit
             that operates in the Division area and moves
             frequently.

2.  EMPLOYMENT.

There are three rifle companies organic to the Infantry Battalion
(Light).  The companies are normally employed under the control of
the battalion commander.  Each company is under the control of the
battalion commander.  Each company is organized with a headquarters
section, an antiarmor section with six Command and Launch Units
(JAVELIN), three rifle platoons, each consisting of  platoon
headquarters with three rifle squads, and a mortar section
consisting of two 60mm mortars. This unit has the minimum essential
personnel and equipment required for combat operation.

    A.  PARAGRAPH 01, HEADQUATERS SECTION.

        (1)  Functions.  Provides command and control, unit
             administration, and logistical support required to
             conduct operations.

    b.  PARAGRAPH 02, Antiarmor Section.



        (1)  Functions.  The antiarmor section provides medium
             range antiarmor support to the company.  The section
             is composed of three fire teams with two Javelins
             each.  The section is lead by a squad leader. Each
             team is lead by a fire team leader who leads the fire
             team coordinating and controlling the two Javelins;
             two antiarmor specialist and an ammunition handler.

        (1)  Functions. Closes with the enemy by means of fire and
             maneuver in order to destroy or capture him or to repel
             his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack.
             Each platoon is under the command of a platoon leader,
             who is assisted by a platoon sergeant.  Each platoon
             headquarters has two machine gunners, two assistant
             machine gunners and one radio telephone operator.
