1.  MISSION. TO FIND, FIX AND DESTROY ENEMY FORCES USING
MANEUVER TO CONCENTRATE AND SUSTAIN COMBAT POWER AT THE
CRITICAL TIME AND PLACE, AS AN INTEGRATED MEMBER OF THE
COMBINED ARMS TEAM.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO THE ARMOR OR INFANTRY (MECHANIZED)
DIVISION, TOE 87000L.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A. AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

       (1) PROVIDES ATTACK HELICOPTER UNITS FOR RAPID
EMPLOYMENT AS A PART OF THE COMBINED ARMS TEAM TO DESTROY
ENEMY FORCES.

       (2) MOVES PERSONNEL, SUPPLIES, AND EQUIPMENT WITH
AVIATION ASSETS IN SUPPORT OF DIVISION OPERATIONS.

       (3) PROVIDES COMMAND AND CONTROL AIRCRAFT SUPPORT
TO THE DIVISION.

       (4) PROVIDES GROUND RECONNAISSANCE, SURVEILLANCE,
AND SECURITY OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE DIVISION.

       (5) PROVIDES AIRBORNE COMMUNICAIONS INTERCEPT,
LOCATION, AND JAMMING SUPPORT FOR THE DIVISION.

       (6) PROVIDES AIR ASSAULT, REINFORCEMENT BY FIRE, AND
AERIAL FIRE SUPPORT.

       (7) PROVIDES AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE, SECURITY
INTELLIGENCE, ELECTRONIC WARFARE CAPABILITY.

       (8) CONDUCTS SERVICE OPERATIONS IN ALL WEATHER
CONDITIONS DAY OR NIGHT.

       (9) CONDUCTS OPERATIONS FOR DEEP BATTLE PENETRATION.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2, TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT CHAPLAINS
AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL, CAN ASSIST IN COORDINATED DEFENSE OF
THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT CAN PERFORM AVIATION UNIT MAINTENANCE
(AVUM) ON ALL ASSIGNED AIRCRAFT, ARMAMENT, AND AVIONICS.
ALSO PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL OTHER ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT QM, CHEMICAL AND CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON:

        (1)  APPROPRIATE UNITS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS FOR
LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT, FINANCE, PERSONNEL AND
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT, LOGISTICAL SUPPORT AND SUPPLEMENTAL
TRANSPORTATION.

        (2) THE U.S. AIR FORCE TO PROVIDE A TACTICAL AIR
CONTROL PARTY FOR DIRECTING TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT.

        (3) THE U.S. AIR FORCE AIR WEATHER SERVICE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH AR 115-10/AFR 105-3 FOR AIR WEATHER SUPPORT.

        (4) MEDICAL COMPANY MAIN SUPPORT BATTALION, TOE
08057L000 FOR DIVISION LEVEL MEDICAL SUPPORT.

        (5) AVIATION COMPANY (AVIM), TOE 01933L, FOR
AVIATION INTERMEDIATE MAINTENANCE (AVIM) SUPPORT AND BACK
UP AVUM SUPPORT.

        (6) THE TECHNICAL CONTROL AND ANALYSIS ELEMENT,
HEADQUARTERS, HEADQUARTERS AND SERVICE COMPANY, MI BN TOE
34287L000, FOR TASKING OF COLLECTION AND JAMMING MISSIONS.

        (7) HEADQUARTERS, HEADQUARTERS, AND SERVICE COMPANY,
