        (7) FORCE MANAGEMENT BULLETIN BOARD ABOI

    b. Purpose and authority for the preparation and revision of
this Table of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

        (1) Cyclic review in accordance with AR 71-32.

        (2) This review and revision applies concept changes,
updates manpower requirements criteria (MARC), and applies
incremental development procedures.

        (3) This TOE has been prepared in accordance with the
provisions of current TOE development regulations and guidance.

        (4) All Equipment Readiness Codes in this TOE have been
reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR 220-1,
Unit Status Reporting. They have also been reviewed to ensure
they are aligned at the paragraph level of detail.

        (5) The unit MARC code is 11A. This TOE is a combat
support unit that operates in the division area. It is mobile and
moves.

2. EMPLOYMENT.

    a. This unit will be assigned to an air reconnaissance squadron
of the airborne division. It is normally employed to perform
reconnaissance and security operations, providing the division an
aerial capability for collecting information on enemy's resources
and activities and providing early warning of enemy movements. It
also can conduct raids, perform air combat operations, and provide
aerial platforms for command, control, and communications.

    b. The air reconnaissance troop may be employed as an internal
unit or as two or more elements dedicated to specific missions, The
aircraft serve as primarily reconnaissance vehicles, however when
necessary, the aircraft can destroy or fix bypassed enemy forces and
deny the enemy key terrain.

    c. To facilitate training and maintenance, the troop is
organized formally with a company headquarters and two platoons.
However, the commander task-organizes the troop for combat based
on the factors of METT-T. There is no single method of task
organization, but it is always based on pairs of OH-58D aircraft
operating together to provide mutual security. The commander
adjust the task organization for battlefield conditions, aircraft
availability, and the need to balance required mission firepower
and internal company security. Lead/wingman teams usually are
employed to facilitate internal security and allow greater freedom
of maneuver and employment flexibility. The troop commander commands
and controls tactical engagements from an OH-58D aircraft.

    d. With the exception of the limited aviation unit maintenance
(AVUM) provided by the assigned crew chiefs and their basic tool
kits, this troop is dependent on other units for all logistical
and personnel service support. Accordingly, it has little or no
capability for independent operations from its parent battalion.
Does not include provisions which would restrict its application
to a single geographical area.

5. METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTION.

GENERAL REMARK. The only personnel requirements listed in this
paragraph are those not covered by criteria and measurable man-
power requirements standards contained in AR 570-2 or automated
analyses related to AR 570-2. All of the pilot positions discussed
below are operational pilots, i.e, primary cockpit seat fillers, for
the eight OH-58D aircraft. The following discussion is provided
only to identify the basis for the special qualification
identifiers (SQIs) and additional skill identifiers (ASIs) for
these operational pilots.

eight OH-58D aircraft and associated flight crews for accomplishment
of the troop's primary aerial reconnaissance and surveillance
missions. (Note: The troop is organized formally into two aero-
scout platoons to facilitate training and maintenance. However,
the commander uses the assets of both platoons interchangeably
when task-organizing for combat.)
