    KORNUKOV, Anatoliy Mikhailovich
    Commander in Chief of the Air Force
    Родился 10 января 1942 года в городе Стаханове Луганской области (Донбасс) в семье рабочего.

    Образование:

    • В 17 лет стал курсантом 10-го Военно-авиационного училища первоначального обучения летчиков в Кременчуге, затем Черниговского высшего военного авиационного училища летчиков. 
    • В 1980 году окончил заочно Военную командную академию противовоздушной обороны имени Г.К. Жукова. 

      • В 1988 году Военнуюакадемию Генерального штаба. 

    Служба:

    • Службу в авиации начал старшим летчиком, был заместителем командира эскадрильи, командиром эскадрильи, заместителем командира истребительного

      • авиационного полка, командиром полка, командиром истребительной авиадивизии, заместителем омандира корпуса ПВО по авиации, заместителем  командующего отдельной армии ПВО, командующим
      отдельной армией ПВО, командующим войсками Московского округа ПВО.
    • Летчик-истребитель, имеет квалификацию "Военный летчик - снайпер". Освоил семь типов самолетов, налет более 2500 часов. 
    • Из 38 лет службы - 14 лет служил в ВВС, 20 лет на Дальнем Востоке. 
    • В боевых действиях не участвовал, но имеет более 250 вылетов из состава дежурных сил ПВО. Лауреат  государственной премии.

    Любит семейный отдых на природе, лирическую музыку, уважительно относится к людям, хотя способен принять жесткое, но справедливое решение.

    В своей работе отдает предпочтение честным, порядочным,
    профессионально подготовленным людям.

    Женат, двое детей. Жена - учитель математики, сын - военнослужащий, дочь - сотрудница одного из вычислительных центров.

      CinC AF, KORNUKOV, Anatoliy Mikhaylovich, Gen Army, promoted to Gen Army 21 Feb 00 (APN.RU, 21 Feb 00), retired at age 60 (NTV, 11 Jan 02).
    		 Born 10 January, 1942 in Stakhanov, Lugansk Oblast (Donbass) to a working family.

    Education: 

    • At the age of 17 he became a student of the 10th military aviation institute
    • In 1980 he completed a correspondence course at the Military Command Academy of Anti-Air Defense.

    Service:

    [Kornukov]  I come from an ordinary working-class family.  I lost my father and mother early.  No one spurred me on to do anything in life, I decided everything on my own.  At school I was an excellent pupil, I was not given a medal for one reason -- I had words with the teacher.  I also graduated with honors from the Chernigov Flight School.  The higher educational establishment was wonderful...  I graduated from there in what was at the time
    the latest aircraft, the MiG-17.

    [Gavrilov]  Your son Sergey, as far as I am aware, has not followed in his father's footsteps through the skies...

       [Kornukov]  I told him that his weight did not cut him out to be a pilot, that he would not get into an aircraft.  He graduated from the Minsk Higher Antiaircraft Missile Air Defense School.  He served in the Baltic and then in the Far East.  He has now moved to Moscow.

       [Gavrilov]  In all probability he is a general with such a renowned dad?

       [Kornukov]  My son has so far reached the rank of lieutenant colonel -- without my patronage.

       [Gavrilov]  So your son cannot command his father, but a wife, as you know, is always one rank above her
    husband...

       [Kornukov]  I awarded her the rank of marshal during my years as a lieutenant...  My wife Lyudmila Vasilyevna is a math teacher, she works in an ordinary Moscow school.  We got married in 1962, so, next year we will celebrate 40 years of life together.  I also have a daughter, Tatyana, who is a captain in the customs service.  And my grandson Aleshka will go to cadet corps this year.  We decided that en famille.

       [Gavrilov]  Anatoliy Mikhaylovich, what else does the commander in chief of the Air Force spend his time on off duty?

       [Kornukov]  On my pets.  A calamity occurred recently -- I buried my beloved dog, a German shepherd called Zorro.  I want to get another puppy.  Right now our Persian cat is getting all the love...
