Single Source Processor-SIGINT (SSP-S)

The Single Source Processor-SIGINT (SSP-S) PI provides Theater commanders with a high capacity interactive SIGINT processing system, in lightweight transit cases, capable of rapid contingency deployments. The SSP-S interfaces with National, other Theater, and Corps intelligence systems via record traffic and file transfer data circuits and accommodates rapid exchange and processing of large volumes of SIGINT data.

There are three fielded SSP-S systems as follows:

Each of these systems have been upgraded. No new systems are planned. The original SSP-S configuration and the SSP-S PI configuration are shown at Figure 1 and 2, respectively.
Contingency Workstation (CWS)

Split Base/Contingency. The Contingency and Split Base Configuration will consist of: a Transportable Downsized Communications (TDC) set; a peripheral set; six Contingency Workstations (CWSs) (and a variable quantity of interconnected commercial workstations). This configuration operates system high at the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security level. It will run software applications designated "Analyst Workstation" (AWS) that integrate the current ASAS-Single Source (SS) (ASAS-SS) V1.1.H with Core Analyst Tool System (CATS) applications.

Communications Network Server (CNS)

Full Operations. The full SSP-S shelter interconnected with tethered UYK-83 workstations, a tactical peripheral set, and a variable quantity of CWSs comprise full operations. This configuration also operates system high at the SCI security level. The CWSs will run AWS applications and maintain their own databases along with access to the SSP-S host processor (Host). The shelter based Host computer will run an enhancement to the current SSP-S Version (V) 1.6.1 software release that fully interfaces to the shelter communications upgrade. The SSP-S PI, under full operations, will provide full hardware/software connectivity between CWS and the SSP-S Host.

SSP-S PI physical interfaces include ThinLAN-TROJAN Spirit, Voice/data channel-Trojan Spirit II, and Direct NEWSDEALER (formerly STREAMLINER) switch. Reference databases are as follows: Emitter Parameters Listing (EPL), Enemy Order of Battle (EOB), CPL/RASIN, SPNTL/GAZETTEER, TEARS, PDDG, F3S, and on-line Janes weapons system.

The primary AWS SIGINT functionalities in order of significance are as follows: robust user friendly database browsers; electronic case file generation, edit, maintenance and storage with integrated databases; Communications Intelligence (COMINT) correlation fully integrated with the case file editor; Electronics Intelligence (ELINT) correlation and database editor; TEXTA database with automated message update integrated with the case file editor; incorporation of reference databases; integration of Joint Deployable Intelligence System Support (JDISS) interoperable APPLIXWARE COTS database, word-processing, spreadsheet, graphics and EMAIL products; frequency, schedule and callsign analysis tools; and analyst notebook.

The database browsers are fully integrated with the electronic maps and allow graphical, menu, and Structured Query Language (SQL) (with complex logic) queries, reuse of previous SQL queries, and interactive queries. Outputs follow well organized defaults which can be modified, reordered, sorted, and displayed graphically and on the maps. Additionally, all related browsers are linked to allow automated launching of a query to another database from within the current browser.
