Basis of Issue Plan - BOIP

A. DESCRIPTION: THE LAUNCH CONTROL STATION (LCS) WILL LAUNCH/CONTROL THE AV INTO FLIGHT AND WHEN DESIGNATED, TRANSFER CONTROL OF AV TO THE GCS. AT TERMINATION OF THE MISSION, THE GCS WILL TRANSFER CONTROL OF THE AV TO THE LCS TO RECOVER THE AV. THE LCS UTILIZES A LAUNCH AND RECOVERY TERMINAL (LRT) WHICH IS A DATA LINK ANTENNA CONNECTED TO THE LCS. THE LRT IS USED TO CONTROL THE UAV OUT TO A MAXIMUM RANGE OF 50 KM. THE DIMENSIONS OF THE LCS ARE L=102", W=84", H=67" AND WEIGHT IS 10,000 LBS. COMPONENTS OF THE LCS: A24463 - AIR CONDITIONER: FL/WALL A/C, AC 208V, 3PH, 60CY, 18000 BTU, CMP HZ Z39320 - LTWT MULTIPURPOSE SHELTER: (LMS) B. CAPABILITIES: THE LCS IS USED TO PREFLIGHT, LAUNCH, AND PASS CONTROL OF THE UAV TO A GCS FOR THE MISSION PHASE OF FLIGHT. UPON COMPLETION OF THE MISSION PHASE OF FLIGHT, THE GCS RETURNS CONTROL OF THE UAV TO THE LCS FOR RECOVERY. THE SHELTER HAS AN IDENTICAL WORKSTATION AS THE GCS (M066AE) AND THUS CAN BE USED TO PILOT THE UAV AND CONTROL THE PAYLOAD. THE RIGHT CONSOLE CONTAINS THE COMMUNICATION CONTROLS. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE LCS IS LOCATED AT THE LAUNCH SITE OF THE AIR VEHICLE. THE LCS CAN BE LOCATED AT AN IMPROVED AIR FIELD AT CORPS OR DIVISION, OR IT CAN BE DEPLOYED WHERE USE OF THE RATO IS REQUIRED. IT IS EMPLOYED AT THE MI BN HEAVY, AIRBORNE, AND AIR ASSAULT DIVISIONS. MI CO, ACR, (HEAVY). MI BN (AE), MI BDE CORPS, AND MI BN (AE) EAC. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: TWO PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, AIR RECON CO, MI BN (AE), MI BDE, CORPS. ONE PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, AIR RECON PLT, MI BN, HEAVY, AIRBORNE AND AIR ASSAULT DIVISIONS. ONE PER LAUNCH AND RECOVERY SECTION, AIR RECON PLT, AIR RECON PLT, MI CO, ACR (HEAVY). E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: STANDARD MILITARY WORLDWIDE 110/220 VOLTS, 50/60 HZ GENERATORS OR COMMERCIAL POWER SOURCE. F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: TRANSPORTED BY HEAVY HMMWV, T07679.
