Hangars
There is almost 300,000 square feet of hangar space at Groom Lake. At the North end of the facility there are four 28,000 foot hangars at the north facility, measuring 220 feet wide by 120 feet deep.

Operations Building 299
The 56,000 square foot operations building is the heart of the research, developement, flight testing and evaluation effort at Groom Lake. It is two story building, with dozens of large and small offices consistent with modern building design. Publically available floorplans of the building indicate the presence of both an intelligence and cryptological vaults. The intelligence vault has been built as an appendiage onto the exterior of the building suggesting that it is a TEMPEST certified Sensitive Compartmented Intelligence Facility or (SCIF).

Photo Laboratory Building 410

To support processing of either finished photo reconnaissance imagery or precision measurements and evaluation photograhy from ground-based sensors, there is a 18,300 square foot photo processing Lab.

Shipping and Receiving

The base is supported by a 39,500 square foot shipping and receiving building probably capable of handling up to 30 tractor-trailers.

Base Housing and Recreation

Base Housing

There are 33 dormatory-style housing quarters each measuring between 15,500-and 23,000 square feet in size, for a total of between 500,000 769,000 square feet of base housing. This would place the base housing capacity somewhere between 2,700-4,000 persons. Observers outside the EG&G Corp. terminal at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas, estimate that between 1,500 and 2,500 people work at the base.

Recreation Facilities

Given the relative short commute time for most employees who live in Las Vegas, Groom Lake has a rather limited recreation facilities, including a tennis court, swimming pool, bar, and baseball diamond.
