Massaro takes 67th IW reigns

Col. James Massaro succeeded Col. Gary Harvey as commander of Air Intelligence Agency’s 67th Intelligence Wing at Kelly AFB during ceremonies Aug. 13. AIA Commander Maj. Gen. John Baker, presided over the ceremony.

Massaro, former commander of AIA’s Air Force Information Warfare Center at Kelly, returns to the wing after a three-year absence. From June 1995 to September 1996, he commanded the wing’s 67th Intelligence Group.

During the ceremony, Massaro thanked Harvey for giving “direction and inspiring vision to those he has led.” “As a result,” he added, “the track has been laid, direction true and pride instilled.”

In recognizing the “dedicated professionals who make the wing function throughout the world,” Massaro said that the “words of our task are simple, the task itself immense - take care of those who take care of the nation, for they are the ones who ensure power projection through information in war and information warfare.”

Massaro is a 1974 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a master navigator and electronic warfare officer with nearly 3,500 flying hours in B-52 and RC-135 aircraft. Harvey has moved to AIA headquarters as the agency’s director of staff.
