Two 93rd IS airmen seek ROTC commissions
Two airmen from the 93rd Intelligence Squadron were selected for commissioning through the Air Force ROTC programs. SrA. Joseph Paradis from J352B and SSgt. Donald Leaver from J35D were among those selected from the Airman Scholarship and Commissioning Program and the Primary Officer Corps – Early Release Program.
Paradis received a Type II scholarship through the ASCP. The two-to-four year scholarship includes a $15,000 annual allowance for tuition, fees and textbooks as well as a $150 non-taxable monthly living allowance. Paradis plans to attend George Washington University and complete a bachelor’s degree in Russian. The ASCP board reviewed 48 applications and awarded 31 scholarships.
Leaver was selected for commissioning through the POC-ERP. He is eligible to receive a $150 non-taxable monthly living allowance while completing commissioning requirements under the POC-ERP. Leaver plans to attend Southwest Texas State University and complete a master’s degree in industrial technology.
Both airmen will separate from active duty and enroll in college as full time students and AFROTC cadets for the fall term. Upon completion of degree requirements and AFRPTC course work, both Paradis and Leaver will return to active duty as second lieutenants. Their commander, Lt. Col. Daniel Faulkner, nominated both for the AFROTC commissioning program.
